Post -2 The Interview
1. How long have you lived in New York?
I have lived in Brooklyn New York for my whole life.
2.Where did you go to school high school? What kind of student were you in high school?What were your favorite classes/lease favorite?what sport and extracurricular activities did you do?
I went to high school in Midwood High School at Brooklyn College. I was a nerd student and still nerd. My favorite classes was music and math. I was in truck team club, year book, African students Union and music club.
3.Did you go to college? Graduate school? if so, where? For how long? What degree(s) did you earn? Are you interested in going back to school? If so,what do you plan to study?
I went yo college at Hunter College. I earned bachelor in psychology. I went to Graduate school of Baruch college and i'm still in school.
4.How did you choose your current occupation?
I decided to apply the AmeriCorps.
5.What steps did you take to get this job? How did you learn about it? How many interviews did you have? Was the hiring process difficult, not difficult? If a person were looking for a job at your company , what advice would you offer?
The steps I take is that I applied online, I get a recommendation letter form employers and the I went on to interviewers and then I was chosen to be an ameriCorps volunteer for the New York City for Coalition Against Hunger. Getting this job was very difficult. The advice I would is write a very good essay, have strong reference letter and ace the interview.
6. How long have you worked here? Have you worked in different capacities at this job? what jobs at this company have done in addition to the one you do now?
I have at Bed-Stuy Campaign Against Hunger here for 4 months. I have worked in capacities.
7.What is your job title and what are three tasks or responsibilities you do most often?
My job title is volunteer coordinator. My tasks or responsibilities that i do often is to recruitment training, scheduling and management of the volunteers workers at our pantry.
8.Who is your direct supervisor and what is her/his job title? How much do you interact with her/him on a weekly basis? How many people do you supervise?
My direct supervisor is Tamara Dawson,she is the director of program manager. I interact with her all the time and daily. I supervise about 20 or more people.
9. What are two example of challenges you face working here?
Some example of challenges i face is volunteers compliance, retention and unreliability.
10. What is the best part of your job?
The best of my is that i like helping the clients of our pantry.
11. What is something you would like to change about your job?
Something i would like to change about my is some of my responsibilities.
12.Did you work somewhere else before this job? Where? For how long? How was that similar or different?
I worked at Banana Republic for 2 years. The is very different.
13. How do you hope, I a high school intern, can most help your company or organization?
You can help our organization by helping our costumers shop in our pantry.
14.What advice would you give to teenage interns (such as myself) getting ready for college?
I would advice you to treat the internship as if its your first job, try to get as much experience, work in different capacities at the organization because your experience with this internship would help me a lot for college and giving your responsibilities, time management and strong work ethic.
15. What advice would you give to teenage interns (such as myself) preparing to find a career?
Read as much as you can about different careers and also tailor your education work experience and training toward the careers that you find interesting to you.
Your supervisor is a very caring person and she seems to enjoy her work a lot. it's really a wondreful feeling to volunteer and I hope you're enjoying being part of this program! :)
ReplyDeleteHassanatou, your supervisor seems very experienced and very smart as well. I like her advices about preparing for college and to find a career. I agree with her that treating your internship as your first job helps you to get more experience. That's very true.

Hassanatou, looks like your supervisor really likes what she doe's and she is really helpful. I agree that you need to make a lot of research if you want to find a good career. I can see that she participated in different activities, which is really good for college.
