Internship Final Reflection
Think back to the beginning of internship. What were your goals? Did you achieve these goals? If so, what did you have to do consistently to achieve the goals?
Thinking back to the beginning of internship, my goals were to gain a some experience that could assist me in the future, come on time every day, help everyone who needed my help, and become more confidant of my verbal skills when speaking with professional adults. I have achieved these goals because I came everyday to my internship and communicated with many different kinds of people. Mostly I communicated a lot and arrived early to my internship site. I’m proud of myself for achieving these goals.
2. What are the most important ideas or skills you’ve learned in the last 10 weeks?
The most important ideas or skills I learned were to have more self control and know how to speak to different kinds of people in the food pantry. I also learned how to stand up for myself. For example, sometimes people yelled at me but I had to learn to control myself in a respectful way.

3. What has having a relationship with a professional employee such as your supervisor/mentor meant to your personal development? How have you have grown as a student and/or young adult in this relatively new country?
Having a relationship with a professional helped me grow as a student and young adult because I have learned to be more professional and confidant in my verbal skills. I used to be afraid of speaking with people in groups because I was shy but now I can I be more confident.
4. What were the highlights of your internship experience?
One of the highlights of my internship was standing in the aisles, directing clients, and assisting them as they shopped in the pantry. Having fun with my colleagues when it wasn’t busy was also one of the highlights.
5. What are your thoughts about jobs, careers, or the professional world in general as a result of having spent 125 hours working in it?
Interning with professionals has taught me two important ideas:
1) You always have to communicate with people because your interactions with them will help you learn.
2) Don’t be afraid to stand up for yourself at certain points.
6. After high school, what do you want to pursue for a career? Are you more or less interested in college as a result of your internship? After high school,I want to pursue a nursing or Physicians Assistants career because i like to help people if i can. I am more interested in college as a result of my internship because i think having a career is very important as a result of my experience at Bed-Stuy Campaign Against Hunger.
7. What were your biggest challenges to overcome and how did you handle those challenges?
My biggest challenges to overcome was the communication skills because at first i was very shy to talk to the customers when they come to the food pantry, because I was new over there so when I tell them what they want they would look at me and who say "who are you ,you work here"? So I had to be more out going and verbal communicator to the customers.
8. If you were to start a brand new internship next week, what are at least two things you would do differently?
If I were to start a brand new internship next week, two things I would at least do differently is find internship that pays and something have to do with my future career.
9. Think of two to three pieces of advice you could offer a new intern at your site.
The piece of advice that I could offer a new intern at Bed-Stuy Campaign Aganist Hunger is to always come on time, be patients , respect others, and learn from your mmistakes and others in the site.
